123 – 6 Day Package with Rainbow Mountain Hike

Day 1 – Arrival in Cusco at any time, you will then be picked up and transported to your accommodation for check in, after checking into your accommodation you will need to visit the agency office for a short briefing regarding your tours and trek, you will then have the remainder of the day to relax or explore Cusco on your own.
Day 2 – Today you will be able to sleep in a bit if you want, or you can explore the city of Cusco, making sure to return to your accommodation by 12:30 pm. You will then be picked up between 12:30 pm and 1:15 pm for the start of your ½ day city tour. During this tour you will visit the main Cathedral and then Qorikancha before taking a bus up to the sites overlooking the City, Saqsaywaman which contains some of the largest stones used in any Inka construction, Q’enqo a funerary center, Pucapucara which was a fort, and Tambomachay which is known as the Inca baths. After your tour you will be dropped off back in Cusco at approximately 6:30 pm
Day 3 – Today you will be picked up from the hotel between 3:00 am and 3:30 am, you will then be transported to the starting point at the foot of Apu Ausangate, which will take roughly 3 hours, here you will enjoy a fresh cooked breakfast while enjoying the beautiful scenery. After a short drive and a little talk from the guide you begin your hike which starts at 4200 m and will take you to about 5000 m which is about a 3 hour hike through villages and high Andean landscape, where you will see grazing alpacas and llamas. Arriving at Cerro Colorado (Rainbow Mountain) you will see the range of colors that are formed by the natural formation of minerals in the mountain. From this point we will have an excellent view of the snowy Apu Ausangate sacred mountain before starting our decent back to the starting point where transportation will be waiting to return us to Cusco , arriving at about 6:30 pm.

Day 4 – Today you will be able to sleep in a bit before being picked up from your accommodation at approximately 10:00 am, you will then be transported (approximately 2 hours) to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, here you will board your 12:58 pm that will transport you to the town of Aguas Calientes which sits at the base of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes you will be met by someone who will take you to the accomodation for check in, you will then have the remainder of the day to explore the town or take advantage of the hotsprings before returning to the accomodation around 8:00 pm, in the evening you will be met by a guide that will give you a short briefing as to the details of the tour the next day.
Day 5 – You will have two options today, you can hike up to the Machu Picchu entrance, or take the optional shuttle bus, in either case you will need to be at the entrance in time to meet your guide (normally around 7:00 am). Once the group is assembled you will enter Machu Picchu and start your tour that will last for approximately 2 hours, during which the guide will explain the history of this “Lost City of the Inkas”. After the tour you will have free time to explore the site on your own before having to return to the train station in time to catch your 6:20 pm train back to Ollantaytambo, in Ollantaytambo you there will be transportation to take you back to Cusco where you will arrive around 10:00 pm.
Day 6 – Morning breakfast followed by transfer to the airport or bus station for your departure.
