128 – 7 Day Package with 4 Day Salkantay Trek

Day 1 – Arrival in Cusco at any time, you will then be picked up and transported to your accommodation for check in, after checking into your accommodation you will need to visit the agency office for a short briefing regarding your tour and trek, you will then have the remainder of the day to relax or explore Cusco on your own.
Day 2 – Today you will be able to sleep in a bit if you want, or you can explore the city of Cusco, making sure to return to your accommodation by 12:30 pm. You will then be picked up between 12:30 pm and 1:15 pm for the start of your ½ day city tour. During this tour you will visit the main Cathedral and then Qorikancha before taking a bus up to the sites overlooking the City, Saqsaywaman which contains some of the largest stones used in any Inka construction, Q’enqo a funerary center, Pucapucara which was a fort, and Tambomachay which is known as the Inca baths. After your tour you will be dropped off back in Cusco at approximately 6:30 pm
Day 3 – Today you will leave Cusco at 04:00 am by bus, and drive to Mollepata which takes approximately 3 hours, in Mollepata you will have time for breakfast (not included), after which you will continue by bus to Markokasa (another 50 minutes) from here you will hike for about 5 hours to Soraypampa (3,900 m), here you will have lunch and this will also be your first camp location. After lunch you will hike for about 1 hour up to the Humantay lagoon (4,200 m) where you will enjoy the amazing views of Humantay mountain, and if you are brave enough, you can take a swim in the glacial lake.

Day 4 – After an early breakfast (before sun up) you will start trekking from Soraypampa, traveling through the Peruvian highlands and will be graced with beautifull views of Salkantay (6,264 m) the second highest peak in Cusco, as well as other mountains. The climb up the the Salkantay pass (4,650 m) will take approximately 4 hours, and then another 2 hours downhill will get you to the lunch spot. After lunch you will have approximately another 4 hours hiking to reach the second campsite Chaullay (2,900 m), during the decent you will pass through the sparse high mountain terrain and enter a more forested zone.

Day 5 – Today after breakfast, you will start the trek and hike for about 7 hours until you reach La Playa. In La Playa you will have lunch and then board a bus (not included) that will take you to Hidroelectrica where you will have 2 options, 1) Continue hiking along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes (without a guide), or 2) Take the train to Aguas Calientes (not included). Once you reach Aguas Calientes, your itinerary continues, but this time with a new guide and a new group of friends, here you will check into a hostal for the night, have dinner and have a briefing for the next days activities.

Day 6 – On this day, we are going to visit the great ruins of Machu Picchu. To get there you will have 2 options, start the hike to the entrance at 04:00 am or you could sleep in a bit and take the optional bus to reach Machu Picchu where you will have a guided tour of the ruins for 2 hours and then free time afterwards. You will need to return to Aguas Calientes at least 30 minutes prior to your train departure at 06:20 pm that will return you to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo there will be a transport waiting for you with your name on a list to bring you back to Cusco.
Day 7 – Morning breakfast followed by transfer to the airport or bus station for your departure.
