Day 1 – Arrival in Lima at any time, pick up at the airport and transfer to your accommodation for check in, then you will have the remainder of the day to explore the city.
Day 2 – After Breakfast you will be transported to the Airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado (not included), upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado you will be picked up and transferred to the agency office for check in and to pay the park entry fee, here you can also store any excess luggage. Next you will be transferred to the port where we will board the boat and begin the journey down the Madre de Dios river, on the way you might see caimans, turtles, herons and other animals. Upon arrival at the lodge you will have lunch and then take a walk in the jungle for about 1-2 hours where you will observe the plants and hopefully some animals, after the walk you will take the boat to reach the Monkey Island where you will wander for a couple of hours, looking for some of the 6 species of monkeys which lives there, and then return to the lodge for some free time and dinner. After dinner, you will go looking for some caimans with the boat, with some luck we might even get to catch one for an up close view.

Day 3 – Today you will do a long trip to Lake Sandoval. After about 1 hour by boat, you will start a walk in the jungle looking for animals and plants, on the walk you might see monkeys, toucans, parrots, sloth, and a huge variety of butterflies, insects and birds. When you reach the lake you will get a little boat and start the tour of Lake Sandoval, paddling out through the dense vegetation and onto the open lake. Immersed in the majestic beauty of Lake Sandoval, you will discover the life surrounding these waters, the lake is a protected area where biologists try to recuperate the giant otters, currently 11 otters are living around the lake and hopefully there will be more and more in the future. You will spend several hours in the boat, exploring the lake and watching for the many species of monkeys, animals and birds that inhabit the area, and hopefully you will spot the hoatzin, a prehistoric and very beautiful bird. After the tour of the lake you will walk back to the river and take the boat back to the lodge, once back at the lodge you will have dinner in the evening.

Day 4 – Today after breakfast you will go for a walk in the jungle to do some bird watching, cross a bridge suspended among the trees (canopy walk) to enjoy the magnificence of the jungle around the lodge. You will also do a zip line tour and kayak in the river (depending on river conditions). After Lunch you can relax or go fishing and later in the evening, you will do a night walk through the jungle so see some of the nocturnal animals.

Day 5 – After breakfast, you will return to Puerto Maldonado and be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cusco (not included). Upon arrival in Cusco you will be picked up and transferred to your accommodation for check in, after checking into your accommodation you will need to visit the agency office for a short briefing regarding your tours, you will then have the remainder of the day to relax or explore Cusco on your own.
Day 6 – Today you will be able to sleep in a bit if you want, or you can explore the city of Cusco, making sure to return to your accommodation by 12:30 pm. You will then be picked up between 12:30 pm and 1:15 pm for the start of your ½ day city tour. During this tour you will visit the main Cathedral and then Qorikancha before taking a bus up to the sites overlooking the City, Saqsaywaman which contains some of the largest stones used in any Inka construction, Q’enqo a funerary center, Pucapucara which was a fort, and Tambomachay which is known as the Inca baths. After your tour you will be dropped off back in Cusco at approximately 6:30 pm
Day 7 – Today you will be picked up from your accommodation at approximately 8:20 am and then transported approximately 40km to the West, here you will tour the town of Maras and it’s church, as well as the nearby salt mines, where salt is believed to have been harvested since before the Inkas. You will also visit the site of Moray which is believed to have been a laboratory or green house, where the Inka experimented with a variety of crops (actual order of sites may vary). You will be returned to Cusco at about 2:30 pm where you will have the remainder of the day to explore, shop and/or relax.
Day 8 – Today you will be picked up from your accommodation around 8:00 am and depart for the Sacred Valley, your first stop will be an artisanal market where you can purchase a variety of commercial and hand made items. After the market stop you will continue on to the town of Pisac and it’s archaeological site where you will enjoy a tour of this important Inka agricultural center. After visiting Pisac you will head West through the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Inkas before taking a break to enjoy a Peruvian lunch buffet. After lunch we will continue on towards the town of Ollantaytambo, here you will have a guided tour of this ancient city before having to be at the train station for your 7:00 pm train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). When you arrive in Aguas Calientes someone from the Inti Killa hostal will meet you at the train station and take you to the hostal for check in. In the evening your guide for the next day will meet you at the hostal (the time will be covered in your briefing) to inform you of the meeting time and location for your Machu Picchu tour the next day.

Day 9 – You will have two options today, you can hike up to the Machu Picchu entrance, or take the optional shuttle bus, in either case you will need to be at the entrance in time to meet your guide (normal around 7:00 am). Once the group is assembled you will enter Machu Picchu and start your tour that will last for approximately 2 hours, during which the guide will explain the history of this “Lost City of the Inkas”. After the tour you will have free time to explore the site on your own before having to return to the train station in time to catch your 6:20 pm train back to Cusco, where you will arrive around 10:00 pm.
Day 10 – Today is a free day, additional activities can be booked, or you can use it to more thoroughly explore Cusco.
Day 11 – Morning breakfast followed by transfer to the airport for your flight back to Lima (not included), upon arrival in Lima you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your accommodation for check in, then you will have the remainder of the day to explore the city.
Day 12 – Today after breakfast you will be picked up to start your full day Lima tour, your first stop will be Huaca Pucllana, a large mud brick pyramid built in the 4th century. Next you will visit the museum in the Central Reserve Bank (This Museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays) where you will see a fine selection of artifacts, ceramics and gold objects from a variety of pre-colonial cultures, as well as the Cohen gold collection. The next stop will be the main square where you will see the Cathedral as well as the Government and Municipal Palaces, after the main square you will visit the San Francisco church where you will not only tour the church itself, but also the catacombs beneath the church with their rooms full of intricately stacked bones.
After the church you will enjoy lunch before setting off for Pachacamac, an archaeological site constructed around 200 AD and located approximately 40km South of Lima, here you will tour the site, visiting the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of Pachacamac, and the Temple of Acllahuasi or “Palace of the Virgins of the Sun”. After the tour of Pachacamac you will return to Lima, stopping to visit the bohemian district of Barranco before being dropped off in Miraflores.

Day 13 – Today you will have a free day in Lima, you can explore on your own or we can arrange additional tours for you if you would like.
Day 14 – After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight out of Lima.
